Gauteng's current drivers licence booking system will revert to the manual
localised booking system, the province says.
"[We] apologise to the people of Gauteng for the inconvenience caused by the
shortcomings of the centralised booking system for drivers licence testing," said department spokesman Thabo
Masebe.
He said that from October 4 all bookings for drivers licence testing would be done
at local licence testing centres, which involved the drivers licence candidate physically going into the centre to
make a booking.
The centralised telephonic booking system would be suspended.
"The department of roads and transport will conduct a full investigation into the
shortcomings of the current centralised system and make appropriate recommendations regarding the future of the
system and any other initiatives to improve efficiency of the drivers testing booking system," Masebe
